Youth and Children — Giving them hope

Children and youth have few options for play and healthy recreation. But with a few more resources, they will enjoy life much more.

With your help, the Partnership wants to provide them with more access to positive recreation, cultural teaching and skills training to help children and youth find meaning.

If you can help by donating the following expertise or equipment, please read Before You Collect or Ship Goods under the lists and contact us at 807-737-3466.

Recreation Programs

A key step to strengthening communities is equipping more First Nations youth leaders to work with children and youth.

Sports Equipment and Skills

Sports are big up north, but equipment is poor. We welcome gifts of new or nearly new (up to two years old and in good repair) equipment.

Land-Based and Cultural Program Equipment

Teens live near beautiful lakes and rivers, but lack of equipment and the cost of gas, keeps them land-locked. With the following, youth could learn to value their heritage and themselves.

Skilled Trades Training and Equipment

Youth want employment skills. Remote communities need trades people. But training is rarely available. Providing training will also let youth gain a better sense of themselves.

Information Technology

Internet connections up north may be basic, but teens want to be connected. Better computers would also expand educational opportunities.

Before You Collect or Ship Goods

If you would like to donate large items you (e.g., canoes, computers, power tools) or any specialty items (e.g. woodworking tools, software, educational resources), please contact us first — the Prevention Program, which coordinates distribution of goods in the north, at 807-737-3466.

We need to ensure that the donations fit with community priorities, are appropriate and can be shipped. We value your efforts and donations and want to make sure we can make good use of them.
